WPG Solutions provides fundraising campaign services to large and small companies in support of workplace giving programs. While the delivery model is SaaS, WPG's mission is service, not technology. When WPG had the opportunity to acquire the workplace giving business of a competitor, they reached out to Carr Systems for support, knowing that Carr principals were the original developers of the technology used by WPG clients like GM, EDS, Ernst & Young. Carr's task was to develop a plan to consolidate giving platforms and provide Application Lifecycle Management services going forward.
Solution:
Carr has worked with WPG Solutions for several years, helping to make WPG a successful small business. The WPG technology is Microsoft (ASP, .NET, SQL Server, SharePoint). Data management for this transaction-based giving business is also an important part of the services provided. Carr's extensive experience with SaaS platforms in a variety of programming languages (Microsoft, Drupal, Joomla) has provide beneficial insights into WPG technology decisions.
Furthermore, Carr has implemented an Open Source, inexpensive CRM system to improve business operations. Technology releases across all technology platforms have included upgraded databases, new APIs, security updates, and more.
Impact:
Carr is a valued partner helping WPG to succeed with its customers. Reaching back to the original developers of the online giving system made it much easier for WPG to take over its newly acquired business without experiencing service disruptions. Fortune clients like General Motors remain very happy with their service. And the costs of maintenance and upgrades have been lowered over time through the strategic use of offshore labor to support the now-seasoned SaaS platforms.
